Desert Northwest: This collection comes from what I have characterized as the Desert Northwest because of the extremely arrid terrain, with only small island circles of irrigated crops, ranging from the tip of northwest Nebraska, through northwest Wyoming, ultimately into a small bit of southeast Idaho. The first eight galleries of contemporary images were created during late September 2017, primarily in Wyoming, while the last two galleries consist of random images gathered during brief passages between 2003 and 2010. In this latest collection the photographic emphasis is on Form, Texture, and Color, with Light as the implicit Ambiance. I have determinedly avoided the most iconic locations with their preconceived captions in order to explore the less familiar, and fresh impressions. From the southern tip of the Black Hills in northwest Nebraska to the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and the northwest border of Wyoming, Form, Texture, and Color become increasingly layered with varied elevations. My most recent images have no interpretive captions, encouraging viewers to apply their own artful impressions from Form Texture, and Color. - Gerald Rowles
